Wrapping Up Time

Hello dear Readers!

As I write this there is a lot of wrapping up going on here with me in various ways:

  • Wrapping my coat, hat and gloves around me to keep me warm and dry from the current Storm Darragh in the UK.
  • Wrapping up presents, writing and sealing cards to be given over the Christmas period.
  • Wrapping up plans and details of the next few weeks of festivity and social arrangements… .making endless lists to keep track it seems!
  • Wrapping up the business year in my practice as sole trader: tidying, filing, final prescription making, sending and generally ploughing through a final list of things that need doing before I take a break.

There is a lot of work to be done at the end of a year where the energy may have been pretty much already expended and for many people, there are festivities, family gatherings and holidays to be prepared for – as well as work deadlines for many!

Tempers may be short and the feeling of overwhelm may be very present…

Our digestion and hormone balance may be showing signs of imbalance too!

It can be a very emotional time for many people.

So… How will you be ready and with the capacity to prepare enough, cope throughout and  ENJOY?

As You may have heard me answer before:
Fear Not! Homeopathy is here to help you!

If you go to this page on my website you will find some helpful information on my favourite remedy kit and some great tips: https://horsleyhomeopathy.co.uk/useful-information/

The booklet that comes with the Ainsworths 42 Essential remedy kit is really helpful but my other favourite two books to suggest patients have to one side are:

  • Wrapping Up Time 2The Practical Handbook of Homeopathy by Colin Griffiths
  • Your Healthy child with Homeopathy by Tricia Allen

Maybe it’s not too late to pop them on a pressie list!?
They are usually both easily and cheaply found second hand too!

Wrapping Up Time 3

SELF CARE AND IMMUNE DEFENSE are key…

and at a time of year when we are generally giving out to others so much, we may easily forget to prioritise our own health!

THINK FIRST AID, RULE No.1…
always put your health and safety first!

So… here is a check list I thought may be helpful to remind yourselves (…and myself!) to do this:

  1. SLEEP… Can you try and prioritise 7-8 hours for at least 5 nights a week ? During the holiday period can you even manage an afternoon kip to help catch up?
  2. BOUNDARIES… are you setting them so that you can say NO when you need too?
  3. PLANNING… are you bonding with your diary/calendar and a timetable that is realistic enough to manage? This can be a hard area, but a good relationship with both these tools can really help, along with regular timer reminders.
  4. BABY STEPS…this is an area I have covered regularly and is an important one to comprehend. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed, exhausted and downhearted, even perhaps with feelings ‘…that I won’t be able to manage it all as I wished’… – Stop these thoughts there and then if you can and celebrate every step you take from your lists and daily goals done so far, so that you realise and give yourself encouragement that if you completed these steps the likelihood is you WILL manage the rest!
  5. FIND JOY… Do what you need to do to keep your morale boosted… you need to find JOY from somewhere to help you through the busy times and not loose sight of why, what and with who you may be celebrating! As someone with ADD, this is an area that needs constant work… but having tools to keep me ordered and working in baby steps, it is now much easier than it used to be!
  6. INPUT and OUTPUT... are you feeding yourself healthy food enough and keeping yourselves suitably hydrated? What is your digestion telling you? Are your bowels working well enough and can you sustain this during the Festive meals when there may be many things out of the norm entering your gut?
  7. MOMENTS OF CALM… Do choose some precious moments to nurture yourself as much as you can and keep your glass feeling half full AT LEAST! An Epsom Salt bath, massage, a calm breathing session, some yoga, meditation or just some sit down time with the TV or a 20 minute lie down may be your go-to’s… but build them into your planner and make them happen… you will feel so much better for this and I don’t think you will be the only one to notice either 😉

It has been an absolute pleasure working with those of you I have seen in my practice this year; lots of lovely new faces and also my longstanding regular clients.

If you have read this or have a friend or relative who you think may benefit from some homeopathy, please do forward this to them or share my contact details and I would be glad to help!

I do wish you all a very Happy Christmas and I look forward to seeing you in the NEW YEAR ahead!

Warm Wishes,
Ali x
