Sugar cravings… A MARCH START!

Welcome to March!

Are you LOVING the lighter evenings and less chilly hours in the day 🙂

Sugar cravings… A MARCH START! 1It has also been a pleasure walking amidst the tiny leaf buds now arriving on plants, shrubs and trees – and the yellow and purple of the first daffodils and crocuses on ground level!

I don’t know about you, but realising the winter is nearly through is a bigger deal in the last few weeks. I can notice more the slower pattern of life that I had established firmly through those months, and it’s exciting noticing the energy now returning to a fuller pace!

HAVE YOU ALSO NOTICED SOME NOT-SO-GOOD HABITS YOU NEED TO KICK?

A Restorative approach is always a good place to start as we re-set our energy…
Gentle exercise, gentle diary organisation, and gentle diet and sleep habits will also truly help.

This inner noticing will, of course, be different for all of you. To re-establish a ‘right’ energy, we sometimes have to notice where energy has got stuck, and whether or not it may need a little assistance in coming forth!

TO KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH IS THE FIRST STEP!

SO… this brings me to the topic of SUGAR CRAVINGS – DO YOU NEED HELP?

Sugar cravings can have such an impact on our mood and energy levels.

They can come about from a variety of things:

  • Ongoing poor diet
  • Regular intake of sugary foods, (including fruit… not too much is key, so go for extra vegetables!)
  • Stress and Lack of sleep/adequate rest
  • Poor Gut Health
  • Parasites
  • Some medication may increase hunger
  • Hormone imbalance

Blood sugar imbalances affect our eating habits, sleep, concentration and consistency in productivity each hour of the day!

Once set in, they can be hard to sort out… at least they can FEEL hard to sort out, which can then become a deterrent in making the necessary changes to get our health back to its optimal health in this area! Learning the difference between false cravings and true hunger is important, and with food generally around us and available most of the day, this has become a lost art.

WHAT TO DO?

Well… here is a lovely article published by Melissa, a nutritional guru, linking up with the Zoe Health research team: Blood sugar balance starts with understanding your biology

Here also are three basic well known nutritional and helpful supports that you can discuss with a professional yourself, in case any of them may help you : https://www.nutriadvanced.co.uk/news/key-nutrients-to-support-blood-sugar-balance

And of course, here is how HOMEOPATHY can help!

Looking at a patient’s ‘WHOLE’ picture gives me an idea of the way they are living, their emotional state and their diet and relationship with food. It also understands stages of life where the body can change such as puberty, and in women also pregnancy, peri-menopause and menopause. Linking events such as grief, trauma, periods of stress and change… and even a holiday or exciting time where the sugar intake may have been increased are important – particularly if the patient can then see a link.

I hate to say it, but many of us are in a pre-diabetic state without realising so this is such a good topic to understand.

We understand the symptoms the body is giving us in our own individual situations.

We look at these ‘maintaining causes’ and understand how they are playing out in the body both short term and long term.

Often just making that connection is really helpful to initiate some energy and time to make some necessary changes. Supporting with remedies can keep this grounding going to help break bad habits.

Sugar cravings… A MARCH START! 2For those Chocoholics in particular, shall we PREPARE OURSELVES for the upcoming chocolatey theme during the Easter Celebrations?

If you have access to some Materia Medica and fancy a little look, here are some key remedies that are interesting to know about:

  • Saccharin Officianalis/Album
  • Sepia
  • Lycopodium
  • Insulinum
  • Dopamine
  • Cortisol
  • Adrenalinum
  • Cina
  • Nux Vomica
  • Syzygium Jambolatum
  • Natrum Sulphuricum

Sugar cravings… A MARCH START! 3There is also a lovely book written by the late homeopath Melissa Assilem, called ‘The Madhatter’s Tea Party’,  discussing the history of sugar and it’s arrival in America and Europe… fascinating to understand it’s drug-like powers!

KEEP MARCHING!
