Preparing to battle those Autumn/Winter bugs… let Homeopathy be your helping friend!

Here we are into October 2024… and what a shock at how quickly we have got to the 10th month of the year!

Some of us may have already encountered signs of an ‘Autumnal bug’ now we are back inside more and re-joining groups, events and everyday commitments – such as work and school, that we had taken a break from over the summer, perhaps?

Please don’t be dismayed… our immune systems need building up and then occasional ‘testing out’, perhaps once or twice a year… some people may experience this each season.

What’s good to know about Homeopathy here, then?

  • Homeopathy is based on supporting our IMMUNE SYSTEMS
  • It understands the need to NOTICE our SYMPTOMS and then has REMEDIES that will match them individually so that we immediately have a ‘tailored’ and ‘holistic’ approach to sorting out our own health complaints.
  • Homeopathy is a method of treatment that works deeply, REBALANCING OUR BODY SYSTEMS WHERE THEY ARE NOT FUNCTIONING WELL… it does NOT just COVER UP the symptoms… so once recovered, your immune system will be left strong and in good shape to overcome a similar bug should you come near them again.
  • There are no SIDE EFFECTS and no TOXICITY left in the body when using Homeopathic remedies.
  • Understanding how and why our bodies are expressing themselves is a fantastic part of Homeopathy, whereby we usually FEEL EMPOWERED and less desperate about not being able to make the shift we are looking for in our health and wellbeing.

Homeopathy prioritises the establishment and care of an effective, healthy immune system… in each and everyone of us who uses it, our immune systems will be developed to their potential.

Then, should we fall ill with a bug, it will enable us to work through the symptoms in the most thorough way, enabling them to move through and out of our bodies with as little drama as possible!

LET’S GET OUR TOOL KIT READY!

Here we go for some suggestions:

Homeopathic remedies to look at which keep us well:

  • ABC 30c – This is a combination remedy that can be used instead of Calpol or Paracetamol/Tylenol when we feel we might be going down with something. It is a blend of Aconite, Belladonna and Chamomilla.
  • Belladonna is wonderful to use where there is a fever… do CLICK HERE to have a look at my blog about the management of fevers.
  • Ferrum Phos 30c or in a Tissue Salt form… fantastic for boosting us up when low energy arrives and again, we feel we are going down with a bug.
  • Kali Bich 30c or 200c – A wonderful remedy to set to in sorting out a sinus infection or catarrhal aggrivation.
  • Pulsatilla 30c – where there is ear and nasal congestion that may also go to the lungs and the discharge is yellow/green. The patient may be clingy and not cope in a stuffy environment.
  • Drosera 30c – a lovely remedy to relieve that tickly and persistent cough that really goes to town at night and once lying down. It happens to do great things with Whooping cough symptoms too!
  • Hepar Sulph 30c – for infection brewing… whether it be internal or external. If you feel a chest infection or throat or ear infection coming on, this is a great remedy to use.
  • Arsenicum Album 30c – for any bug involving diarrhoea or vomiting and also ailments from food poisoning. The patient may be very fearful of their health and dread the worse.
  • Gelsemium 30c – Our great go to for flu-type symptoms where there is exhaustion, aching bodies, headaches, fever, throat soreness, nausea and dizziness. This patient may also have fear and anxiety in their picture.
  • Eupotorium and Oscillococcinum are another two great flu remedies and it is worth discussing them with a homeopathic pharmacy should you go down with the Flu.

MY GREAT RECOMMENDATION TO HAVE IN THE CUPBOARDS NOW AND START TAKING AS THE WINTER APPROACHES Ainsworth’s Anti Cold and Flu mix, 2024.
It is a much more natural approach than taking a flu jab! Please do swap to this and try it this year! It is great for all the family. You need to order it directly from the pharmacy, and take every fortnight as on the instruction label.

Some more suggestions:

  • Keep warm and well wrapped up when going out… changing body temperature needs care; even ensuring you use a dressing gown when going between bathroom and bed at night. Your immune system needs nurturing not over-stressing.
  • Epsom salt baths… nothing can keep us more relaxed than an Epsom salt bath! 1 large mugfull in a hot bath for a 15-20 minute soak several times a week will do wonders at supporting our bodies and they stay ‘clean’ and healthy!
  • Blankets and slippers and warm areas to retreat to for hibernation as we succumb to the darker days and earlier nights drawing in. Storing our energy at this time of year is important so we can battle the bugs we may come across with enough stored ‘natural ammunition’!

  • Nourishing foods; vegetables galore, protein, fruit within certain amounts and incorporating immune boosters and anti-inflammatory foods such as Ginger, Turmeric, Black Pepper, and of course, not forgetting the powers of Black Elderberry! I have in the form of a bottle of Sambucol Forte in the cupboard… it has added Vit C and Zinc and is a great instant. Many people find other less sugary alternatives too.
  • Enough sleep!
  • Vitamin D3 (with K2) supplementation… easiest in the form of drops to be popped under the tongue, daily for those that feel they may need a boost and are not likely to get out and about in the daytime Winter sun when it appears!
  • Good handwashing and hygiene practise!
  • Understanding our Susceptibility is always key in keeping our health at it’s optimum level. Homeopathy helps us understand our weak spots and manage them better.

For those in the school system, taking a break over the half term period is much advised, just to allow our bodies to stop, relax and re-set. Many schools in the UK now use a two week half term break, as there is research that the health state of the children is better through the winter as a result, with less days off school.

I do believe there is nothing wrong with a Pyjama day… or two or three!!!
